About Shahin Samouhi |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
For
nearly twenty years Upper East Side dressmaker Shahin has been the go-to
woman for New York City Celebs and socialites in need of custom-made
couture. Perched in her show room above Madison Avenue and 66th Street,
Shahin quietly churns out her chic, feminine creations, and tastefulness,
Shahin has long been one of New York's best kept secrets. Her talents were
revealed to world in August 2004, when influential fashion magazine Harpers
Bazaar described her as "the exclusive dressmaker who is every well-heeled
Upper East Side woman's secret weapon" ("A Marriage Made in Mexico").
There's a reason why Shahin's clients don't want to share her. Whether she's designing an extravagant wedding gown or a simple cocktail dress, Shahin gives each client her undivided attention. And her meticulous eye for detail and intuitive understanding of the client's creative vision and make her a great collaborator. Trained in fashion design, draping, haute couture sewing technique and fabric styling, Iran-born Shahin moved to the States in 1984. She spent three years as the in-house tailor at Washington DC high fashion department store Saks Jandel before moving to New York in 1987 to open Shahin Design.
